AHMED DICKINSON & FRIENDS, A FUNDRAISING CONCERT AT SOUTHWARK CATHEDRAL


Please join Borough Music School tutor Ahmed Dickinson for a vivacious lunchtime performance alongside internationally renowned cellist Li Lu and virtuoso percussionist Hammadi Rencurell Valdes supporting Borough Music School.

Borough Music School help children in the diverse London Borough of Southwark experience the joy of music. It is a local charity that provides comprehensive music education at a subsidised cost for children aged 6-15 years. The school offers individual and group music lessons on Saturdays at Snowsfields Primary School and on Mondays at the Cathedral School of St Saviour and St Mary Overy. They also hold regular concerts where all pupils can show off their skills and increase their confidence.

Lapping, Lemel & Sweeps, the new documentary and soundtrack.

A group of jewellery students from across London have made a film with DIGITAL WORKS, focusing on the fascinating, hidden history of Hatton Garden, the centre of London's jewellery trade since the 18th century.

The soundtrack features Folk Inspired Music for Violin & Guitar, the recording made by Ahmed Dickinson and Ben Wragg in the spring of 2010.

Ahmed Dickinson & Jamie Nichols, Nine Ways to Caress a Woman, UK Premiere 2013

On June 14th at the Bolivar Hall, London, Ahmed Dickinson will present the UK premiere of Nine Ways To Caress A Woman, a suite for guitar and narrator composed by Mexican composer Enrique Gonzales Medina. The piece, composed in 1997 and with texts by playwright Jose Cruz Gonzales, has been specially revised for this occasion. This atypical work plays with the idea of nine men from different walks of life in their approach to caressing their lovers. Ahmed Dickinson in Belarus.

On Tuesday 28th June and with a master class at the Music Academy in Minsk, began the activities of Cuban guitarist Ahmed Dickinson Cárdenas in Belarus, .

According to information from the agency Belta Belarus, Dickinson, acknowledged when speaking to the local press after his presentation, the great potential of the students of the Belarusian State Academy of Music.

The Cuban guitarist, now residing in London, said that the master class was a wonderful way to asses the level of skills and abilities of Belarusian guitar students. Ahmed advised students to work on the development of their sound quality, their musical expression and also to find a personal approach to music.

In Minsk, Ahmed Dickinson will offer three concerts organized by the diplomatic mission in Havana in Minsk.

Dickinson's program in the Central European nation includes concerts in the Small Hall of the Philharmonic Theatre Minsk , Concert Hall of the House of Culture of the City of
Mogilev, at the National Art Center for children and youth, at the Museum of Religion in Grodno, the Theatre of Dolls of Grodno and the Children's Art School City Saligorsk. See the pictures here

Ahmed Dickinson at London English Song Festival 2013

This opening concert at the Forge will explore the intriguing contrast between music written for voice and guitar, and for voice and piano. The feautured composers are Benjamin Britten, Lennox Berkeley and the less well known Mathias Seiber, a Hungarian who adopted England as his country 1955. Ahmed Dickinson will collaborate with mezzo soprano Katie Bray and tenor Rupert Charlesworth

The London English Song Festival was founded by award - winning pianist William Vann to promote and celebrate the performance and knowledge of the wide and varied repertoire of English Song in London and Throughout the U.K.
