AHMED DICKINSON & DAVID MACGREGOR CLASSICAL MEETS JAZZ


Two virtuosos of the guitar, the Scottish jazz guitarist David MacGregor and Ahmed Dickinson get together in an exclusive series of concerts to perform in 2014 with a mixture of solo pieces and Guitar duets. This is an avant-garde project combining original music as well as Cuban, classical and Jazz to create onstage a truly unique, fresh and interesting experience. A night of professionalism, extraordinary ability on their instruments and amazing improvisational skills; the perfect opportunity for people of different generations to get together and enjoy a wonderful night of music.

Ahmed Dickinson to perform at International Guitar Festival in Cuba

With two performances and a Masterclass at Identidades Guitar Festival, Ahmed will mark his comeback recitals in Cuba. The Identidades festival in its second edition and chaired by guitar composer Eduardo Martin, will host a number of international artists from Brazil, Venezuela, Colombia as well as some of the top performers from the island. Ahmed will dedicate this special appearance to one of his greatest mentors Jose Antonio (Ñico) Rojas.
The second performance at the Teatro Lírico Nacional will feature Spanish and Cuban works for guitar and voice, as well as music for guitar ensemble where Ahmed will have the pleasure of collaborating with fellow Cubans talent such as Contraste Guitar Duo, Alejandro Zuñiga (baritone) and Kirenia Corzo (soprano)

Ahmed Dickinson, Debora Berghuijs & Eke Simons at The Paleiskerk, The Hague.

Ahmed Dickinson will collaborate with soprano Debora Berghuijs and pianist Eke Simons in a concert at The Paleiskerk, the Hague. The recital, on January 11th will comprise music by Schubert, Berlioz, Mozart, Dvorak and Rodrigo.

BEYOND THE HORIZON, A classical journey to embrace the voice of the rising sun  

Gillian Humphreys, artistic director and founder of Concordia Foundation presents Beyond the Horizon at St Martin in the Fields on 7th January 2014. The concert recreates a magical journey through the four seasons in Japan, using authentic instruments, dancers and visuals. Tapestries of classical music woven through the folk traditions of Japan, Europe, and the New World bringing the ancient arts to the new generation. 

 The evening will present a World premiere by Fabio D'andrea, performances by Satoko Fukuda, Ahmed Dickinson, Hibiki Ichikawa, the Concordia International Ensemble, Clive Bell & VOCES8

The repertoire include Traditional Japanese Folksongs, Vivaldi, Piazzolla, Vaughan Williams and Roxanna Panufnik.
