Ahmed Dickinson collaborated with the Wardrobe Ensemble at Bristol Old Vic.

After an intense three weeks rehearsals and a week of research and development at the National Theatre Studio, Ahmed Dickinson Cardenas in collaboration The Wardrobe Ensemble put together a work in progress piece performed at Bristol Old Vic's Ferment on 18th July. 

33 is the second part of The Wardrobe Ensemble's Real Things Trilogy. Bringing together South American music, fierce, macho choreography and soulful stories, The Wardrobe Ensemble will present their take on the incredible story of the Chilean miners.

A tale of friendship, hope and Elvis Presley, 33 takes you beyond the cameras, let you meet the families and leaves you 2000 feet under the ground.

Ahmed Dickinson performed for the Cuban Team in the run up to the Olympic Games 2012

  

Ahmed Dickinson has been given the privilege to perform for the Cuban Olympic Team, Members of the Cuban Embassy and representatives from several South American embassies in the UK. The event was hosted at the Bolivar Hall, London on 24th July.

Ahmed Dickinson to perform alongside the Concordia International Ensemble at Kilver Court, Bristol

The Old Vic and the Kilver Court are set to present an evening with thrilling musical performances by the Concordia International Cello Ensemble and the Concordia Ambassador Artists: Violinist Satoko FukudaGuitarist Ahmed Dickinson Cardenas, Flautist Gareth McLearnonFlautist Abigail Burrows and Soprano Joanna Marie Skillett. You will be taken on a journey through the ages from Bach to Jimi Hendrix, to Classics and Latino Jazz.

The Havana Suite nominated at Cubadisco Awards 2012

The album, recorded and produced in 2011 by Ahmed Dickinson and Hammadi Rencurrell in collaboration with British violinist Emma Blanco, is competing in the Instrumental Music category. A homage to Havana and its famous decadent beauty, the recording is a compilation of beautiful works by Cuban composer Eduardo Martin which exploits the interaction between contemporary Cuban guitar sonorities and well-known musical genres such as Rumba, Danzon, Cha-cha-cha, Changui, Bolero, Timba, amongst others.

The Cubadisco International Fair, founded in 1997 and organized by the Cuban Music Institute, is the most integral event of the Cuban Music Industry and it constitutes the most saught-after platform for exposing the main achievements of Cuban Music. The winners of its 16th edition will be announced in Havana on May 19, 2012.

Trio Mestizo performed in Hampshire 25th May 2012

 

The Trio Mestizo brought a taste of the Havana to St Margaret Mary Church. Classical guitarist Ahmed Dickinson, violinist Emma Blanco and dynamic percussionist Hammadi Rencurell Valdes  spiced up the venue with the vibrant and diverse music from Cuba and Latin America.

The event, on May 25 at 7.30pm,  raised funds for repair work projects at the church.
